Big John B. Nesbitt, 66, of Wolf Point, Montana was a one-of-a-kind man, who touched more people’s lives wherever he went, passed away on June 8, 2023.
John was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, he valued his friends and family and you never had to wonder where you stood with him.
John did many things in his life: he worked for the railroad, was a lineman for Norval, taught at Poplar College at the lineman school and so much more. John loved working in his shop, building his Willie’s Jeeps, riding his bike, or helping others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand; if he didn’t know how to do something, he would figure it out. He often would say “He was a jack of traits, but a master of none.”
John helped get the Prairie Riders Bike group going and stayed active in it, he was part of the Glasgow Car Club and the 100 Club.
John stayed in charge of everything, including his funeral, and kept his great personality till the end.
John is survived by his daughters, many grandkids, extended family, and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, sisters, and the love of his life his wife, Nancy.
To the man who was blessed in many ways and taught many people different things, “We love you and will carry you with us always!”
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Glasgow Elks, followed by one last turn around town and a reception back at the Elks starting at 5:30 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.

John Nesbitt was a good man and well liked and respected in the Opheim Mt area. Many of us up here in the Opheim area will be attending a funeral in Opheim at the same time John’s family will be attending his celebration of life in Glasgow and although many of us will be unable to attend we want John’s family to know he is in our thoughts and is our brother and part of Opheim. When he put his spikes on and belted on around a pole the pole and the lines all swayed back and forth with the power in this big man as he climbed up to get the power back on. He was one of my “heroes” as I grew up and a friend, rest easy Nes.

I had the pleasure of coaching John at Opheim HS both basketball, and track. He was the center on Opheim’s 1975 3C basketball championship team. He also won District 3C and Eastern Divisional Discus Championships. He was ultimate team player and a winner. Nicknamed lurch because of his long arms. Which allowed him to block shots in basketball and throw the discus. Frazier Bearcubs inparticular dreaded John’s dominance of the paint.
May you rest in peace.

John was an amazing person, he had faith that never waivered. I was proud that I met him many years ago in church and worked with some of his buddies that loved to get out and ride their hogs. I am quite sure that there were many waiting at the gates of heaven for him, his friends Mike Matthews, Gary Alvstad and most of all his loving wife. I will always remember Big John with his smile and sitting in the banks of heaven with everyone. You are all in my prayers.

Big John was my friend – a person I could count on if I needed help – he was always willing to drop what he was doing to lend a hand – sometimes when we used to be visiting he would suggest a quick ride on the scoot- those times were priceless. Ride In Paradise my friend.

Sincere sympathy to John’s family. I met him two years ago at the Blaine County Cruise. We became friends instantly, we looked for him today June 24th at this years Blaine County Cruise. When we didn’t find him we looked on the internet for Glasgow and discovered that he had passed. All of our memories of todays cruise will forever be in our memory as John’s! God bless his family!

To my dad,
There are many men in this world who take on the roll of father, but very few will ever be the dad like you. Your heart, your strength, your love, your compassion, your genuine and sometimes brutally honest guidance throughout our lives. You loved all of us biological and not, we were always your daughters. You gave us strength and knowledge to continue moving forward after your body left this world, but your presence will always remain with us. You touched the heart of all you met, and left so many amazing memories for everyone to cherish. If I was able to do it all over again, I’d chose you to be my dad time and time again. You were an amazing grandfather and even great grandpa to little miss Olive (who is just as witty as you are)!
I hope you are happy (and healthy) up there somewhere with all the rest of the family. Until we meet again in the big sky, we got it from here. We love you, and miss you forever dad!!
