Wendy Sue Grant Nelson, 65, of Glasgow, Montana, passed away suddenly, on June 17, 2024, due to medical complications from underlying health conditions.
Wendy was born in Glasgow, Montana, on January 14, 1959, to Pat Woolery and John Grant. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1977 where she was on the drill team. Wendy moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1985, where she met her late husband, Arthur Nelson, who she married in Deadwood, South Dakota in 1992.
Wendy was an avid reader, rarely to be seen without a book or magazine. She loved music and her pop culture knowledge was unmatched. Wendy was a four-time cancer survivor and battled many other chronic illnesses as well. Before having health issues, she enjoyed playing pool and darts with her friends and sisters, and she also was on a bowling league team. She loved following major league sports and was a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos. Wendy was always game for a road trip, whether to a concert or chaperoning school trips for her nieces. Wendy had various jobs throughout her life, particularly in the food service industry.
In 2019, Wendy moved back to Glasgow, Montana where she enjoyed playing Bingo and chatting up the residents and guests while living at Nemont Manor. Wendy spent hours a day working on various crafts, her absolute favorite was making diamond art for all family and friends.
Wendy was a beloved aunt, known to many as “Ninny” or “Auntie Wendy”, who will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends.
Wendy is survived by her mother Patty Jimison Woolery of Glasgow, Montana; Sisters- Tammy (Tom) Chapman of Gillette, Wyoming; Holly (Joe) Dennison of Lake Forest, California; Brother- Donny (Tonya) Woolery of Dickinson, North Dakota; and bonus sister, Roxanne Plummer of Glasgow, Montana. Stepsons- Jeremy (Erin) Nelson and Robert Pederson. Nieces- Erin Whitlow, Candice DeBray Cooper, Taylor Woolery, Tessa Chapman, Lindsey Julson. Nephews- Tim Whitlow and Evan Woolery; Great Nephews-Kembren and Jett, along with numerous cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Nelson, her father John Grant, stepdad Monty Woolery, and brother Johnny Pat Grant.
Wendy will be forever loved and incredibly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
