Steven DeYoung age 49, passed away unexpectedly at his residence by Tiger Butte, near Glasgow, Montana on October 7, 2017.
Steve was born on August 3, 1968 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Robert and Shirley (Dykema) DeYoung. His family moved to Bozeman where he received his education and graduated from Bozeman High School in 1987. He always had a passion for engines and motorsports including dirt bikes and snowmobiles.
Stevie met his future wife Diana Lynn Guttenberg in Bozeman, MT in 1992 through a mutual friend. After a few low-key drive by’s and a year and a half of friendship, Steve and Diana began dating after a stealthy camping trip. They were married on the shores of Fort Peck Lake on September 19, 1998.
Steve loved his dogs, being outdoors, fishing and was an accomplished marksman. He was involved in competitive shooting and won quite a few awards. Steve also raced in motocross with his friends and took home trophies and prize money from races.
Steve was a gear head and enjoyed riding with his awesome friends. They spent a lot of time riding both bikes and sleds in the mountains of Montana. Steve was an expert technician and a master mechanic and held certificates of training from mechanical trade schools on many types of vehicles, including the certificate of Harley-Davidson PhD.
Steve eventually found his home working for Thompson & Sons in Glasgow as a diesel mechanic under their guidance. He was well respected for not only his skill, but also for his hard work ethic. He often worked late or on weekends to get a vehicle back on the road for the owners. He truly “Rode for the Brand”.
Steven is survived by his wife, Diana DeYoung, his parents, his in-laws, his sister Amy and many close friends. He is also survived by his and Diana’s dogs Goose, Wolfie, Bella and Odessa who he loved dearly.
His visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT. Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT. A reception will follow the funeral service at the Cottonwood Inn in Glasgow, MT.

The world has lost the best Harley/Motorcycle mechanic! Smiling Steve was a great neighbor when I lived in Bozeman and wonderful friend. It was fun working with him at Yellowstone Harley-Davidson and he took such good care of Mousetrap. My heart goes out to his family and many friends that are left behind. Steve will be missed! I grew up with Steve in Bozeman Mt and I will always remember fishing, Ice skating, riding BMX bikes and motorcycles with Steve. We were the best of friends for many years I will remember him as I do my childhood.

I met Steve when he was a mechanic at Yellowstone Harley and then at Rocky Mtn Choppers. I supplied hardware
items for general maintenance and would stop by monthly. Steve will always be remembered by me as a very nice
guy- always treating me with respect. I will always remember his reply; “right-on” he would say.
