Sharon Lynnette Wigness Thompson passed away on June 24, 2023, in Glasgow, Montana.
She was born on May 31, 1932, to Charlotte and Porter Wigness and raised in Fortuna, North Dakota. Sharon was the oldest of 5 children, Arden, Gerald, Alan, and Susan. She was raised in a loving extended family and Sharon always said her cousins were like her siblings.
Sharon married Kenneth Thompson on October 24, 1948, in Fortuna, North Dakota. Sharon and Kenny welcomed six children to their marriage – Cleo (deceased as an infant), Debby, Brian, Diana, Tom, and Lisa. Family was special to Sharon & Kenny. When the children were young, camping and boating at Fort Peck Lake were much-loved activities for them all.
Sharon will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, her kind, gentle and giving nature and her solid faith in God. She lived her life by Micah 6: 8 “God has told you what is good; and what is it that the Lord asks of you? Only to act justly, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God”.
Sharon was always a caretaker whether it be her own children, grandchildren or anyone in need. Many a grandchild called Grandma from school when they were “sick”, knowing she would never say no.
In their early years, Kenny & Sharon ran a custom combining business together with Ken’s brother, Douglas. Sharon worked many jobs throughout her life. She was a school lunch aide at the South Side School and also worked at Glasgow’s infamous Hi Hat Drive-In for many years. In her later years, she was a companion caretaker for many elderly Glasgow residents. She loved doing this and did not think of it as a job, but more as a calling and considered it a privilege to spend time with them.
Sharon is survived by children, Debby Cornwell, Brian Thompson, Diana (Jeff) Boyle, Lisa (Robert) Legare and daughter-in-law Dawn Thompson. Sharon cherished her grandchildren, Michelle (Chad) Hoover, Cody (Juli) Cornwell, Jamie (Eric) Hafenfeld, Kirk (Britney) Cornwell, Cory (Kim) Zimmerman, Shayne (Amy) Zimmerman, Jillian (Michael) Dunstan, Rikki Boyle, Rocky (Haylee) Thompson, Brandi (Nathan Dale) Thompson, Joshua (Mandi) Thompson, Grant (Bethany) Legare, Gage (Sierra) Legare, Bryce Legare, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Kenny Thompson, infant daughter Cleo, son Tom Thompson, son-in-law Lynn Cornwell, great-granddaughter Devon Thompson and great-grandson Carder Johnson.
Mom-Grandma – we love and miss you greatly. Life certainly will not be the same without you. You will be in our hearts forever.

Debbie and Bryan, I’m so very sorry to hear of the passing of your mom.
I did not know her well but when I did see her she always had a smile on her face. She will be missed by all
Wanda and Dave Berndtson says
May you all feel the peace that she has been desiring for herself. She has been brave, trusting in God to keep her as free of pain as possible as she has taken this journey to her eternal home. Of course, she knew her children would care for her until the end, she taught them well.
After my parents moved to Glasgow, Dad loved having so many of her delicious baked goods as he made deliveries. He was delighted to learn of their shared connections in Minnesota. She was a special friend for him to talk to about his past.
And as the years have passed, we have all learned so much about her wonderful family. Some examples, Mom’s secret admirer, Tom. Kirk and his family as neighbors and finally, Debby, and her steadfast friendship as a loyal neighbor. Sharon has left a legacy behind with all her family. It is with sadness that she has had to succumb to evil cancer. Yet, she is the winner in the Christian Hope of eternal life.
Greg and Jodi Frigon says
Debby, Lisa and families: sorry to hear of Sharon’s passing. She instilled such strong values in each of you and that’s what will live on, as you’ve passed them on to your own kids. Sharon was full of life, love and a little spunk. Enjoy your memories and know she’s in a better place. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.

Sharon was a BEAUTIFUL soul. She and Kenny were neighbors when David and I were babies. Sharon gave my Mom milk for my bottle when I was a baby on several occasions. She was so helpful to my Mom. She was one of the most giving people I know. Prayers for all of you as I know you will greatly miss Sharon. May the PEACE of GOD be with you!!!! Love, Debbie Bayne Brown
