Robert “Robbie” Lee Carpenter, 65 years old, passed away peacefully at his home, Warren Group Home on November 17, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1958 to Myron Carpenter and Violet Trulock.
Robbie and his family were from Glendive, Montana. Robbie entered Eastmont School in 1967 when he was 9 years old. He learned to read primers and write his name at Eastmont. His mother taught him self-help skills such as dressing, hygiene and cooking. Robbie moved to Glasgow in 1976 where he attended the Milk River activity center and lived at Warren Group Home. Going home to visit his family in Glendive was important to Robbie. He would make the trip home for holidays.
Robbie was a very unique individual. He had little concern for convention and lived his life in a manner that pleased him. He had his own pace for doing things and couldn’t be rushed. Robbie enjoyed listening to radio alone in his room. He liked listening to music and kekping the beat. He enjoyed coloring and loved his “clicky” pens, he could never have too many. Robbie had a good sense of humor and enjoyed joking with staff and individuals. Robbie had a unique style of dress. Regardless of the weather, Robbie was never without his vests, jeans cuffed up to his knees and cowboy boots. He would often wear a straw cowboy hat.
Robbie participated in Special Olympics. He enjoyed bowling and walking events. Robbie enjoyed seeing babies and watching farm animals. He loved riding horses.
Robert was survived by his brother Rodney Carpenter, Richard (June) Carpenter, and his sister Karen (Darrell) WhiteEagle. His nephews Pernell (Lori) White Eagle, Richard White Eagle, Jeffery White Eagle; nieces Sheridan Savio and Michelle (Joe) Wood; great-nieces: Alexandria, Abby, and Ella, and great-nephews Noah, Carson and D’Artanquias.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and aunts Verna and June.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Bell Mortuary with Pastor Bonnie Novak officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the family plot in Glendive, Montana.
