Funeral services for Robert W. Smith, age 75 of Glasgow, Montana, who passed away unexpectedly at Billings Clinic on February 26, 2019, will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with Deacon Judi Martin officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. Bob’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, March 4 at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow.
Bob was born May 20, 1943 in Rochester, Minnesota to Irvin Smith and Florence Keckhafer. He received his early education at Northrup School and graduated from John Marshal High School. He then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota.
He married Marilyn Amundson on June 11, 1977 at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, Montana- where they made their home.
For 30 years, he and Marilyn owned and operated the Quick ‘N’ Tasty restaurant. They sold the business in 2011. Bob was a dedicated and active member of the First Lutheran Church. He was considered a “Mega Fan” of Glasgow Scottie sports, especially wrestling. He rarely missed a duel or meet. The highlight of his year was attending Montana High School State Wrestling Tournaments in Billings. Even as ill as he was, he made it to his final State Tournament- just weeks before his passing.
Because of his fond memories of hunting and fishing with his father, Bob fit seamlessly into the Glasgow community, hunting every fall and fishing every summer. He shared his love of the outdoors with many, but especially Ryan.
Bob is survived by his wife Marilyn; his daughters, Denise (David) Jarman, Karen Jenkins, Debbie (Brandon) Williams, Kristi (Bud) Bittner; his grandson/son, Ryan; his sisters, Sharon Smith and Nancy (Jeff) Haas; and his grandchildren, Alex Jarman, Jeanae Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Shaian Jenkins, Jasmine Hammond and Haley Bittner.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn Sparks; and an infant sister, Lois Smith.
In the immortal words of Bob Smith, “CROSS FACE AND WHIZZER HARD!” ”GO SCOTTIES GO!!”

Dear Marilyn and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Bob passing away. I remember our last visit at the Glasgow airport when you were leaving on a trip. I always enjoyed visiting with him. Whenever I called an order in he’d say “is this you Nancy?”
That always tickled me. He will be missed by so many. Just know I’m thinking about you and sending my sympathy, love and prayers.
Nancy

Dear Marilyn and all others who miss Bob,
Everett and I talked with Bob at the JMHS 50th class reunion. Do you remember the call he placed to get right the exact city in which a daughter lived in this Dallas-Ft Worth area? Bob was talking with us at the time. Even though Everett and I had not talked to Bob for more than 50 yrs, we talked easily with him about some serious matters. Some of us at the reunion had attended 1st Baptist Sun. School together yrs ago. Peggy Dunnette Lathrop spearheaded the taking of a photo of us grown-ups together in 2011. Everett and I could tell that when we somewhere sometime would be with Bob again we would enjoy being with him. So it stands.
Sincerely, Everett and Vicky Antonson Herda
