Nelson Gene Grandchamp, 69, of Wolf Point, Montana passed away April 9, 2021 at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
Nelson was born January 16, 1952 in Poplar, Montana to Joseph Grandchamp and Elizabeth Johnson. He received his education in Glasgow Public Schools. He enlisted in the Marines in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1978. He then served in the National Guard in Glasgow with the rank of an E-5 for numerous years.
He married Jeffery Young and to this union Chad, Josh and Aron were born. He later married Brandy Brunckhorst and to this union Elizabeth and Ian were born.
Nelson was a “Jack of all trades”: he went to plumbing school, he ranched, worked in the oil fields in Texas and Louisiana, and was a cook at various establishments.
In 1996 he moved to Wolf Point. Nelson enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving the back roads with a bottle of Black Velvet and a gun in hand in case he found his ultimate buck. On his travels he would stop and visit family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Joe; and sisters, Babe, Sandy, Judy, and Helen; nephews, Robert Lee Lonebear, Robert Grandchamp Jr., Thomas Hartry and James White; and grandson Liam Dolan.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Andrew) Dunn; sons, Chad Dolan, Josh Dolan, Aron Dolan and Ian Grandchamp; grandchildren: Trace, Star, Kale, Sadie, Bow, and Lorna Dolan, Tye, Tristen, Taylon, Anthony Joseph, Paul Jordan, Madison Lee and Aubrey Grace; siblings, Cheryl (Willis) Packineau, Carol Seinknecht, Tina (Alan) Freese; Melvin “Benny” Grandchamp and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. If we missed anyone we apologize as there are many relatives too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of Nelson’s Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Wolf Point Community Hall in Wolf Point, Montana, with a luncheon to follow. Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.

I send my sympathies to Nelson’s family. Nelson was in my second grade class. Mrs Johnson was our teacher. We got in trouble for, I can’t remember what but had to stay after school together. I remember him as being sweet friend.
