Myrel Anton Fischer, age 80, of Glasgow passed away at Valley View Home in Glasgow, on June 1, 2023.
Myrel was born in Mobridge, South Dakota to Tony and Ruby Fischer on November 14, 1942.
He worked 15 years at the Coca-Cola plant, managed the Elks Club, and retired after spending the last 22 years as a Valley County Correctional Officer/Jailor.
He loved to play cards, watch sports and read western and war history books.
Preceding him in death were his daughter Melissa Greenhagen and infant children Mischelle and Michael Martin, along with his parents Tony and Ruby Fischer.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary; a son Mike (Doreen); his grandkids Colby, Quinton, Krissy and Craig Greenhagen, Garrith and Errion Fischer; along with five great-grandkids, a sister Judy Edwinson and brothers Jerry and Robert Fischer.
The family has planned a Celebration of Life at the Glasgow VFW June 9th from 4pm-7pm. Burial of ashes will take place at the Glentana Cemetery at a later date.

Myrel and I had some good times together. Besides working with him every day, I enjoyed some of our trips together for training and transporting prisoners. A lot of good memories.
