Venice (Marlene) Johnson, age 82 of Glasgow, Montana passed away at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital on May 24th, 2016.
Marlene was born on November 9, 1933 in Vernal, Utah to Ross and Venice Rooks. She attended and finished school in Rangely, Colorado. Marlene attended two years of college at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado where she studied to be a teacher for physical education.
As a child Marlene enjoyed horseback riding, playing with her dog, crocheting, embroidery and spending time with her family on the farm. On October 11, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada she married the love of her life, Donald Johnson. They lived in Vernal until moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1968. Marlene and Donald spent 40 wonderful years together until Donald’s passing in 1999. They enjoyed bowling and spending their weekends camping together.
Marlene enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and playing pinochle. As well as taking care of her flowers and yard. She loved spending time with family and friends. Marlene was part of the United Blood Services for many years. She also loved going on bowling trips all over Wyoming with her grandson Michael.
Marlene was an independent spirit who fiercely loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Leo (Debra) Rooks of Vernal, Utah and their children Dylan, Dustin, Anjanette, and Ashlee; two sons, Brit (Jeannie) Johnson of Texas and Daren (Lori) Johnson of Denver Colorado; four grandchildren, JoAnna (Jake) Turner of Nashua, Michael Johnson of Nashua, David Johnson of Texas, and Liam Renner of Glasgow; five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trever Turner of Nashua, Makiah Johnson of Gillette and Nevaeh and Emma Johnson of Texas. As well as extended family Ann (Duane) Williams of Nashua and Billy McGee and his family Chris (Sierra) McGee and Shadyx and Scarlett.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Johnson and her parents, Ross and Venice Rooks.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26th, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, Montana. A graveside burial will take place at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette Wyoming on Friday, May 27th, 2016.
