Lois Therese Grobel died October 17, 2017. Born July 16, 1930 in the Asbury Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the youngest child of Richard and Alvina Carlson.
Lois graduated Roosevelt High School, Minneapolis and on January 22, 1949, married Lynn D. Grobel after he completed service with the 82nd Airborne.
In the early 1950’s, Lois and family moved to Montana, living first in Billings, then in Helena and finally settling in Glasgow in 1959, a move for which she was always grateful. She loved the people of Glasgow, their down-to earth warmth and welcoming character. Northeastern Montana, its rugged beauty, boundless plains and majestic skyline was always a source of inspiration for her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and Robert Carlson, and sister, Jean Mullane; by Lynn, her husband of 61 years, her daughter, Mary and her son, Peter. She is survived by her son, Stephen, of York County, Virginia; grandchildren Nick, Sarah, Lynsey and Zack and several nieces and nephews.
At Lois’ direction there will not be a public service. There will, however, be a memorial reception at the Cottonwood Inn on November 14, 2017, beginning at 3 p.m.
Lois thrived the last seven years at Valley View Home and regularly expressed her appreciation for the loving and outstanding care she received. It is her desire that anyone inclined to make a memorial contribution do so in favor of the Valley View Home, 1225 Perry Lane, Glasgow, Montana, 59230.
Mary Berg says
My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return your dear one to you. Our Heavenly Father sent Jesus to provide comfort for “the brokenhearted” and “all who mourn.” (Isa. 61:1-2) (Luke 4:17-21) May these promises give you peace. Deepest sympathy.
