Lawrence H Benson

Lawrence (Larry) Hughes Benson died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Valley View Home after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born on February 3, 1941 in Glasgow, MT to Eugene and Mildred (Yandell) Benson. He attended high school in Glasgow and college at the University of Montana in Missoula, where he married Charlotte Elaine Ulrigg in 1964. Larry spent the majority of his professional life in Sioux Falls, SD, where he managed movie theatres. He later returned to Glasgow, where he worked as the ward clerk for Valley View Home. Upon retirement, Larry spent his time enjoying college sports, hunting and visiting family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mildred Benson, his wife, Charlotte (Ulrigg) Benson, and his eldest son, Mark Richard Benson. He is survived by three children– Laura (Benson) Karson (Santa Rosa, CA), Julie Benson-Rosston (Helena, MT), and Bradford W. Benson (Sioux Falls, SD); his siblings””Richard Benson (Bozeman, MT), David Benson (Lakeway, TX), and Mary Gene (Benson) Esselbach (Seattle, WA);  11 grandchildren””Bryan Benson, Matthew Karson, Kristina Karson, Kellie Karson, Jamie Karson, Garrett Benson, Dylan Benson, Ryan Benson, Shelby Rosston, Sarah Benson, and Andrew Rosston; and one great-granddaughter, Britain Benson.

Cremation services have taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am Friday, August 21, 2015, at First Calvary Baptist Church in Glasgow, followed by a luncheon at the church.  Burial will be private.
