Joan Swails, age 72, passed away tragically in an automobile accident in Glasgow, Mont. Nov. 23, 2018. Joan was born in Portland, to Delwin and Esther Dalrymple. She graduated from Madison High School and went on to
Portland State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree and contined on to Lewis and Clark College where she obtained her Master
of Arts Degree in Teaching. Joan was a teacher at Riverside Elementary where she spent her entire career, retiring after 29 wonderful years. Joan’s death was preceded by her parents, Delwin and Esther; and her sister-in-law, Linda.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Dalrymple; and niece and nephews, Nancy Jaunrubenis (Scott), Troy (Gina) and Robert Dalrymple.
A celebration of Joans Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Our Lady of Grace Church; 18403 S.E. Blanton St., Milwaukie OR. A reception will follow.
As Joan lived with Type 1 Diabetes for over 60 years, the family suggests donations be sent to The American Diabetes Assn., 4380 S.W. Macadam Ave., Ste. 210, Portland OR. 97239.
