Aunti Inez made my childhood memories the best. She always made me feel like I was special. She made ice cream buckets of turtle cookies when she knew I was coming. She shooed me out of the kitchen because “kids do do dishes here, they play outside with their cousins.” She fixed many scrapes and bruises, laughed at us sliding down the barn roof, and yelled like crazy when we roped a hog and it was dragging us all over. She spent hours tying tiny candies on a string for us to pull up through a vent. She was everything a kid would want in an auntie. I will deeply miss her. I pray she is with her family in heaven and enjoying a healed body free from pain. My heart goes out to those closest to her.
