Gladys Ostlund Jacobson, a lifelong Malta resident, died on August 3, 2017 in Great Falls, Montana.
Gladys was born to Levi and Marianne (Soennichsen) Ostlund in Forks, Montana on July 5, 1932. At a young age, Gladys moved with her parents and brothers, Edward and Robert, to the Milk River Valley. She graduated from Malta High School, having shared many shenanigans with Lila Licht.
Gladys married Russell Jacobson on September 17, 1950 and they raised their family in the Malta area. She was a lifelong member of the Malta Lutheran Church. She was a familiar face at concerts and sporting events. Go Blue!
Gladys was creative and organized. She was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed ceramics, loved flowers, and gardening. She was famous for her pies!
For many years, Gladys provided daycare in her home. Through her work, she had the opportunity to touch the lives of many Malta children and their families. These families enriched Gladys and Russell’s lives and became a second family to them. It was through these loving relationships that Gladys was able to remain in her home until October 2015.
In October 2015 health issues necessitated her relocation to the Beehive Clover home in Great Falls. It was there that she found another nurturing and caring community. The family thanks the Beehive for their compassionate care.
She is survived by her children Roger (Davienne) of Grand Junction, CO, Terrianne (Joyce) of Vail, AZ, Bob of Missoula, MT, Jan of Great Falls, MT, Brent of Carlin, NV, and Stevie of Auburn, WA., as well as her older brother Edward (Sarah) of Sand Coulee, MT; her grandchildren Monica, Matthew, Jen, Starr, April, Jamie, Jennifer, Amanda, Mark, Kolby, Praie, Amadi, Marquis, Chad, Kyra, Jasmine; great grandchildren, Anne, Garret, Brenna, Luke, Regan, Dashawn, Shakya, Amanda, Ogie, Elijah, Ebonie, Kayla, Samara, Aaliyah, Elijah, Jace, Amiya, Kolby Jr., Izabele, Marly, and Sophia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russ, brother Robert, and granddaughters Elizabeth and Kalee
