G.C. “Jerry” Feda, passed away Saturday April 24, 2021 at Valley View Home in Glasgow, Montana at the age of 94.
Jerry, a 73 year resident of Glasgow, was born June 7, 1926 to John and Julia Jane “Jenny” (Brazzell) Feda and grew up on his family’s farm near Alexandria, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, he joined the merchant marines and served for three years. Following his USMM service, he rode along with his sister on her honeymoon until she and her husband tired of his company and dropped him off in Glasgow. From there, he found work shoveling coal on the Great Northern railroad. He retired 41 years later as an Amtrak engineer.
A man of varied interests, Jerry also owned Glasgow Insurance & Realty and served on the Montana State Legislature. He sat on many state and local boards, including the Montana State Board of Natural Resources, Montana coal Board, Glasgow Hospital, Hospital Foundation, Valley View and Chamber of Commerce. He was a devout Catholic and proud 81-year member of Knights of Columbus as well as many other civic organizations including the Elks, Lions and JCs.
In his personal time, Jerry cherished his time as a husband, dad, and grandfather enjoying traveling, reunions and special occasions. He took great pride in his 69-year marriage to Audrey. He was true to God, his country, family and friends throughout his life.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; infant daughter, Katherine; son, Daniel; siblings Ruth, Jeanette, and John.

Feda Family,
I was truly saddened to hear the passing of Jerry. He truly was a living legend in Glasgow, MT. Jerry always greeted me with a great big smile and twinkle in his eyes. Jerry was a kind man always having words of wisdom and positive thoughts to anyone and everyone. His love of his family was his first and foremost priority. He was a fine example of just being a “true gentleman.”

Dear Feda bunch,
I was saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing. This time will be so difficult for Jerry’s loved ones but you can take strength in knowing your folks are together again. The Clowes family enjoyed your Dad’s humor, his wonderful smile, and loved his laugh. Dave Clowes and Jerry were such good friends. It was a joy to think at in old age two men could so much enjoy the company of each other. One old codger to another.

Jerry and Audrey were wonderful neighbors on our two blocks of 5th Avenue. Sadly, Jerry may be the last of our parents. I do believe he had the best twinkle in his eyes … and it was always there. At one time my brother and I were trying to count how many kids lived on those two blocks. We came up with something like 21 kids in 1959. Yeah, there were some Catholic families that bumped up the average and we had representatives in most if not all of the classes in St. Raphael’s school. Speaking for the Beebe-Sand kids, Jerry was the #2 Dad. It was a great neighborhood to grow up in and Jerry was the kind, generous, helpful, always smiling friend to all, even rowdy kids. In more recent decades, when our Mom was living at NeMont Manor, we would visit Jerry and Audrey at Prairie Ridge. It was so fun to reminisce with them and so wonderful to see how gentle and kind Jerry continued to care for Audrey. Val, Jan and Donna, make sure that your kids and grandkids know that their Grandpa was a great man. If the world was only filled with men like Jerry, it would surely be a better place! Hugs to you all!

Jerry and Audrey were great neighbors. Sadly, Jerry may be the last parent from our two blocks of 5th Avenue North. He had the best ever-present twinkle in his eyes. One time, my brother and I counted how many kids lived on “our” two blocks over the years that we were in school. I believe we came up with 21 kids. Yeah, there were some Catholic families that bumped up the average and we usually had one or more representatives in each class at St Raphael’s School. Of all the Dads from out childhood neighborhood, I remember Jerry best. He was a kind, generous, helpful, and always smiling friend to everyone, even rowdy kids. In more recent decades, when our Mom lived at NeMont Manor, we would visit Jerry and Audrey at Prairie Ridge. It was fun to reminisce with them and it was so wonderful to see how kindly and gently Jerry continued to care for and love Audrey. I have such fond memories of Jerry & Audrey in our Glasgow neighborhood. My parents and they really knew how to have a good time! I’m sure they are now carrying on the good times together in heaven.

I have such special memories of growing up on 5th Avenue. Our house was next to the Feda home. Life and growing up was simpler and seemed to be a lot more fun than today. Kids were always around to play with. I believe some kids played better than others. I wasn’t the nicest little girl as I wanted to be a boss and I was mean. I can’t speak for my sister but she was right beside me!!! Jerry and Audrey were two wonderful parents and now are together in a better place. Val, Jan, and Donna and families may you find comfort and peace in our Lord and Savior. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love and prayers to the Feda clan as you celebrate the impactful life of your Dad (and your Mom also). They were loving, giving people who were such close friends with our parents. The reunion in heaven must have been joyful for many! May God bless you all and give you His peace as you celebrate their lives that were well lived.

Valerie, Janice, and Donna,
I’m so sorry for your loss but how lucky you were to have him and your mom in your lives for such a long time. They were such wonderful and fun people. I always kind of thought of them as my “second parents”. And I’m tickled that many have noted the party in heaven. That was one of my first thoughts – my dad toasting and welcoming your dad. We were all so lucky to have the experience of growing up on 5th Ave.! An incredibly special time in my life. You and your families are in my prayers…. love to all of you.
