August 15, 1946 – May 9, 2017

Eugene Anthony Pehan, 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May, 9, 2017.

Graveside Services with military honors present will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the Glentana Cemetery in Glentana, Mont. A reception will follow at the Glentana Hall.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1946, in Glasgow, Mont., to Anthony F. Pehan and Leonie K. (Zimmer) Pehan.

After graduating from Opheim High School in 1964, he attended the Catholic College in Richardton, N.D., for a year and community college in Spokane, Wash., on the GI Bill, after he returned from serving in the US Army in Vietnam where he received several service medals. He had a 31-year career with the Spokane Fire Department as a firefighter, fire officer and retired as a battalion chief in 2000.

He was currently employed part-time with the Spokane Public Schools in nutrition services for “something to do.” He recently spent his summers on the family farm in Glentana, farming with his brother, Bob, and neighboring farmers. He enjoyed his home in Spokane and time spent with family, friends and the “Dawgs.” His door was always open to everyone for a good home-cooked meal and cold beverages. Both of his homes were well known as the “Gathering Place.”

He was preceded in death by both parents, Tony and Leonie Pehan; one sister, Clara, and granddaughter, Amanda.

He is survived by his spouse, Debra Pehan, at the family home; four children, Ben, Adam and his wife, Tiffany, Brad and his wife, Sarah, and Stephanie and her husband, Bill; seven grandchildren, Ava, Drake, Eleanor, Taylor, Hayden, Cole and Caleb; and eight siblings, Shirley, Mary and her husband, Myrel, Jim and his wife, Mary, Bob, Cathy and her husband, Joe, Joe, Laura and her husband, Michael, and Martha and her husband, Dave.
