Dr. William Edward Wright M.D., age 70, passed away on October 1st, 2015 at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Montana of complications from Huntington’s disease.
Dr. Wright was born on September 8th, 1945 in Denver, Colorado, to Mary Ann Grabow and Dewey Sampson Wright. When he was in 6th grade the family moved to Helena, Montana, where he graduated from Helena Senior High in 1963.
Dr. Wright attended colleges at Montana State University in Bozeman and Carol College in Helena. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor Degree; a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. Dr. Wright continued his education at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1968-1972, having attained his Doctorate of Medicine. He then continued his education at the University of North Carolina with a five year residency in pathology at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which was completed in 1977.
Upon completion of his education in the medical fields, he came to Glasgow, Montana. Dr. Wright was employed as the pathologist at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital starting in March of 1978, until his retirement in 1993.
In addition to his responsibilities at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Clinic Laboratory, Dr. Wright traveled to Scobey, Wolf Point, and Poplar as a consulting pathologist.
Dr. Wright enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, skiing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing poker, especially 5 card stud. Dr. Wright liked to camp out at the South Fork of the Judith River with his black Labrador dogs Nicki and Ruby.
In June of 2005, Dr. Wright moved into the Valley View Home, and was a resident there until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Dewey Wright; his sister, Patricia Marlow; and an uncle, Garret Wright.
Dr. Wright is survived by an aunt and uncle, JoAnn and Branson Payne, their son Garret Payne of San Ramon, California, and their daughter, Sheri Lake of Denver, Colorado; and aunt, Sherri Wright of Pasadena, California; a nephew, Bradley Marlow of Riverton, Wyoming; a niece Kathleen Diehl and her sons Shane and Eric of Peoria, Arizona.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, 2015. Family and friends will gather at the Bell Mortuary at 1:00 PM and proceed to Highland Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
