Dillon L. Cassel, age 32, of Glasgow, Montana

June 23, 1989 – December 6, 2021

Dillon Lee Cassel died Monday, December 6, 2021 along-side his wife in a vehicle collision on their way to town to go to the gym.

Dillon was born June 23, 1989 in Glasgow, Montana to Scott and Robyn (Menge) Cassel.  He grew up on the family ranch near Saco, Montana.  Dillon also spent much of his of time on his grandparent’s farm outside of Saco: working in the seed mill, running the swather, eating Grandma’s cooking, and playing with Sarah.  Those memories were always very special to him.

Dillon started grade school in Saco. The family moved to Glasgow in 2006, and that is when he became a proud Glasgow Scottie.  He was honoured and humbled to have been crowned Homecoming King his senior year.  After high school, he went on to attend Montana State University in Bozeman for one year.  He then moved on to finish school at MSU-Northern in Havre, Montana where he received degrees in plumbing, electrical, and sustainable energy.  It was here that he discovered his passion for health and fitness.

Within a week of finishing college, Dillon was working for Dale’s Plumbing in Glasgow.  In 2013 his adventurous spirit took hold, and he decided to pursue his dream of moving to Thailand to practice mixed martial arts and the sport of Mauy Tai.

After traveling back and forth between the United States and Thailand for a couple years, he eventually seized an opportunity to turn his passion into a career and became co-owner of the “New Moves” gym.  Dillon flourished here, having many professional accomplishments, many friends, and impacting the lives of everyone he worked with.

While in Bangkok he met his wife, Baika Puengudom. They were married in June 2018 in Thailand.  Dillon would comment that he “had to go halfway around the world to find his soul mate”. They had a shared passion of fitness, nutrition, and hard work.

Dillon is survived by his parents, Scott and Robyn Cassel of Glasgow, Montana; his sister, Sarah (John) Oyloe of Bismarck, North Dakota; his grandparents, Darrell and Loretta Menge of Saco, Montana and Sandra Kindschy of Great Falls; his dearly loved cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Phil Cassel; his aunt, Jody Menge and his great-aunt, BJ Allen.

Dillon taught us to chase our dreams, and to pursue a life that makes you happy.

Family will receive friends 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Bell Mortuary.  Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2021 at Bell Mortuary with Pastor Tom Fauth officiating.  Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuaryglasgow.com.

  5. Thoughts and prayers to the family. I was shocked to hear the news of Dillon’s passing. He was a great friend to my brother during his brief time in Miles City. I have fond memories of spending time with Dillon playing basketball and video games in Miles City. RIP Dillon.

Everybody liked and admired him. My heart is shattered to hear of his passing. I still can’t believe it’s real. I’m so sorry for your loss. Truly and deeply.

  10. Dillon was the best trainer and conversationalist. I loved working with him in Thailand, and sharing work and life problems. My day was always better after a morning session with him. He had a special way of motivating and getting the best out of people. He is dearly missed.

  12. I lost my brother today. And I would like to say something about Dillon in fond memory.

    “As the father figure of the family, I would like to ask for your blessing to marry your sister”, he said this to me a few years back.

    Dillon gave the firmest handshake of steel, which usually ended with a tight hug. Just from physical introduction, you can already tell that this man is of strong conviction, honesty, consistency reflected by his physical condition

    “don’t bring up politics when talking to in-laws”. We broke that rule the first day we met by exchanging our world views.

    Dillon struck me as a man who was not afraid to stand for what he believes in, yet he did not put others’ beliefs down. No pandering, straight up honesty. Not even if you are the brother in-law. I loved that.

    He reflected qualities of an ideal conservative man. He was vigilance and he had a solid plan of how he wanted his family to be like. This is why he’s a perfect match for my liberal, carefree sister, she needed this.

    My oldest son Kasey met Dillon through playing basketball on an elementary school playground in Miles City. Kasey and Dillon hit it off immediately! Their love of basketball created an instant bond and they became pretty good buddies while Dillon was in Miles City. Dillon and Kasey would hang out at our house and he was always respectful and polite, and good about including Kasey’s little brother, Kyle! I remember how sad we were when Dillon and Scott returned to Glasgow; we wish we could’ve kept him in Miles City! Thank you for raising such a remarkable young man. We were blessed to have known him and have so many wonderful memories of Dillon. I will never forget that shy little smile of his! May the Holy Spirit, the divine comforter, bring the entire family peace, sustenance, and love today and in the coming days. I know our Lord is taking special care of all of you.

    I was deeply saddened to hear about this terrible news of Dillon and his wife’s passing. I wish you and your family as much peace and comfort as is possible during this difficult time. Dillon was a great friend and one that I am very grateful to have had. I am really lucky to have had the time I did with him in Miles City and look back very fondly on playing in basketball tournaments together, time spent playing video games, and hanging out for hours playing basketball at the school across the street (probably for too long if anything!) I am very grateful to have had such a friend. Although I had not been fortunate enough to have seen him for the past few years, Dillon was a great person, and I will miss him deeply. I know that all of my family members felt the same way. My brother also enjoyed being around him, and both of my parents though he was a great kid. Wishing you all the best.
