Funeral services for Dennis Boucher, age 87, of Hinsdale, who died May 24, 2024, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday May 31, 2024, at the Hinsdale American Legion Hall. Burial will be at Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale. Condolences may be left at bellmortuarymontana.com.
Dennis was born January 22, 1937, in Malta, Montana, to Everett and Mercedes Boucher. He graduated from Hinsdale High School and attended college in Bozeman for two years. While in high school, he worked for Etchart Land & Cattle where he learned valuable ranching experience and gained lots of stories to tell. After attending college, he returned home and joined the Army National Guard and was enlisted for four years. He married Roberta Payne Aberg on January 27, 1962. He gained two sons, Marc and Scott, and they began their family in Hinsdale.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #45 holding offices of District Commander and Adjutant, Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Montana, Algeria Shriners, Montana Stockgrowers and the Hinsdale United Methodist Church. He was an avid farmer and rancher all his life, he loved his cows and was always looking for the best cattle price. He was a loyal Hinsdale Raider Fan; one could always find him sitting in the front row cheering on his favorite team. He loved rodeos and supporting the Hinsdale and surrounding communities. His support showed in countless ways, from laying scoria cinders on the track field, building bucking chutes for the rodeo grounds to attending every benefit held especially the July 4th pie auction. He enjoyed visiting at the local coffee shop, catching up on the latest news and sharing with everyone his latest joke. His presence was boisterous and his laughter was contagious.
He is survived by his wife Roberta of 62 years, sons Marc (Kay) Aberg, Scott (Charlene) Aberg, Jeff (Anna) Boucher, Gregg (Renae) Boucher and daughter Myla (Keith) Beil. Grandchildren Shandy Aberg, Marci (Emmett) Mollman, Briana (Brad) Yeska, Kevin (Jessica) Aberg, Taryn Aberg, Brooke (Chris) Kindred, Nicole Boucher, Ryan Boucher, Casity Boucher, Sarah Boucher, Andrew Boucher, Delaney (Jared) Sloan and Halle Beil. Great-grandchildren Tristen, Reese and Novalee Mollman, Katelyn (Nate)Adams, Hailey, Brent, Abby Yeska, Amalie and Mason Aberg, Troy and Tya Stebleton, Kendrah and MaKennah Kindred, Octavia and Adaline Sloan. Great-great-grandchildren Trevor, Theo and Tucker Adams. Sisters Stella Rosenwald, LaVaun Pagett and Bev Lawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Mercedes Boucher. Memorials can be made to the Hinsdale Ambulance Service, American Legion or organization of your choice.
