Cory Allen Domier went home to be with the Lord on July 9th, 2024, after a long and valiant battle with lung cancer. He was just 56 years old. He was surrounded by his favorite girls, hand in hand with his wife and sister.
Cory was born on New Year’s Eve, 1967. He would be the last of 3 children to his parents, Charlie and Delores Domier.
Cory was born and raised in Plentywood Montana, and loved growing up in a small town. As a boy, he was rambunctious and busy, always getting into some sort of shenanigans. He and his siblings, Curt and Kristy, grew up quite close and spent many summers together riding bikes, watching baseball, and swimming. Cory also looked up to the men in his life, his dad and grandpa Dewey, and often spent time with them in the garden, doing yard work, and building model cars.
He left Plentywood School early, earned his GED, and entered the workforce. Cory worked many jobs in his life; janitoring at the Sherwood INN, making chicken and selling cigs at Can-Am Convenience Store, stocking shelves in Kum and Go Convenience Store, cleaning up after our little town as a employee of Plentywood Sanitation, hauling for TNT Oilfield Services, sneaking too many sweets while working for Sweetheart Bread Factory, and working his way up the ladder as manager for Holiday Convenience Stores.
He met his first wife, Betsy Akin, in December 1996 at a mutual friends house party. These two became inseparable and quickly welcomed their first child, Katie Anna, in September 1997. They gave her a sister, Amanda Elizibeth, in January 1999. They married in June 1999. The couple finally added a boy to the mix, Phillip Harris, in March 2000. The two separated in 2001, and officially divorced in 2006.
Cory was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2008, turning his world around. While doctoring in Billings MT for this, he met the love of his life, Alicia Hoerster, at Bullwackers Lounge. Alicia came into his life with 2 children of her own, Kasey Alexandra (25) and Isaiah Allen (20). The couple lived together in Medicine Lake, MT for a while with Cory’s children, but eventually decided to move and start their lives in Billings, MT in late 2008 and married shortly after, in April, 2009.
Cory’s cancer battle was just beginning when it metastasized to his lungs in 2013. He would spend the next 10+ years doing treatment, participating in drug trials, and undergoing surgeries. He spent the majority of this time living in Billings, but made the move to Glasgow, MT when he was made manager of the local Holiday Convenience Store in 2020. He would eventually retire in early 2022 due to the progression of his cancer.
In adulthood, Cory was a simple man. Early on, he loved to gamble and spent some time getting to know our local bars. He loved bowling, or any excuse to get together with his friends. As he grew older, he enjoyed camping, cooking up a classic, and playing video games. After he retired, he adored spending days lounging with his dogs, Squeakers and Zeus, hanging out in the smoke shack, and being with his family. He especially enjoyed rough housing with his grandchildren, Brynlee (8) and Greysen (6) and snuggling on Hudson (1).
Through this all, Cory and Alicia’s marriage stood the test. Alicia was his best friend, his biggest support, his confidant, his heart. She would eventually become his full-time caregiver in 2022. He dealt with countless infections and hospital stays. She was there by his side through it all.
Our dad loved a good cup of black coffee, a naughty joke, and talking current events. He was hard headed and loud, and we personally apologize if you ever saw him spit out his dentures mid conversation. He was kind hearted and determined, and brave. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he no longer has to fight.
Cory is survived by his wife Alicia, children Katie (Cody), Amanda, Kasey (Brock), Phillip (Arianna), and Isaiah, siblings Curt (Linda) and Kristy, and lifetime best friend Curt Trewyn, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Cory is proceeded in death by his parents, Charlie and Delores, Grandparents Art and Esther Gabrielson, and Dewey and Lilian Domier, the mother of his children, Betsy Prince, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Glasgow MT. Followed by a graveside service in Hinsdale MT on August 23 2024. Time to be determined at a later date.
